IGF1-Lr3 1mg
IGF-1 LR3 is a modified analog of insulin-like growth factor 1 engineered for reduced binding-protein affinity and extended activity. It is widely used in cell culture research on proliferation, differentiation, and IGF-1 receptor signaling. Reduced binding-protein affinity is what makes it the standard growth factor for cell culture, where native IGF-1 would be sequestered unpredictably by secreted binding proteins.

Research Overview
IGF-1 LR3 (Long R3 IGF-1) is a recombinant analog of insulin-like growth factor 1 modified in two ways: substitution of arginine at position 3 and addition of a 13-amino-acid N-terminal extension. Together these substantially reduce affinity for the IGF binding proteins that normally sequester circulating IGF-1, leaving a greater fraction of the molecule free to engage the IGF-1 receptor and markedly extending functional activity. This property is precisely why the analog is a mainstay of cell culture: in vitro systems contain binding proteins secreted by cultured cells that would otherwise sequester native IGF-1 unpredictably, confounding dose-response relationships. Laboratory applications include serum-free media supplementation, proliferation and differentiation assays, IGF-1R and PI3K/Akt signaling studies, myoblast culture, and bioprocess cell expansion.

Why Researchers Choose This Product
Reduced binding-protein affinity is what makes IGF-1 LR3 the standard growth factor for cell culture work — native IGF-1 is sequestered unpredictably by binding proteins in culture media, corrupting dose-response data. The analog delivers reproducible receptor engagement.
Storage
Store lyophilized vials refrigerated at 2–8°C. Protect from heat and light. Reconstituted material should be kept refrigerated and handled under aseptic laboratory conditions. For laboratory research use only.
